Sonshine Learning Center and Sonshine Learning Academy are proud of their dedicated work around the social and emotional competence, skills, and development of all learners!
Our buildings have been recognized by the state as champions of these practices, as only 30 other schools, university preschools, or child care centers have achieved! It’s incredible work by team and family systems!
(For reference, there are 4,601 regulated child care centers in Wisconsin, plus 295 school districts that offer in-house 4K).
We are also proud to be among only 50 other locations in the entire state providing practiced based coaching to our team! Coaching strengthens our team, teaching skills, and overall impact for students!

Our 4K teachers continue to be Allison Firestone, Libby Braaten, and Kayla Grender for the school year, and Ashley McLaren will move into the Academy as a third PreK teacher for 2026! Our wrap around teachers, Mrs. Locke, Miss Braaten and Mrs. Franko work closely with Mrs. Firestone, Miss Braaten, Mrs. McLaren, and Mrs. Grender to meet the educational, social, emotional, Sonshine, and devrlopmental goals of our students to foster a life long love for learning, along with the confidence that they will head off to future education in kindergarten and beyond with ALL the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary for continued success. Our Sonshine team provides continuous care (or looping with the same teacher for multiple years) at all Center levels until the Academy PreK/ school age building, where the Academy team then takes over their educational experiences!
